Drop Your Boat Antenna With The Push Of A Button

If you've ever cursed the need to reach and lower your VHF antenna while transiting a low overpass, PowerBase might be right for you.

Attwood PowerBase

It's not always easy to get excited over something like a masthead light pole, but the new PowerBase proves that not all poles are on par. According to manufacturer Attwood, PowerBase is the industry's first "truly intelligent, powered fold-down light or antenna base, all controlled with just a push of a button right within the helm." More to the point, with PowerBase, skippers (or their crew) will never have to climb on a hardtop again.

Even better, it has a 180-degree range of motion, allowing the light or antenna to fold toward the bow or stern. And if you try to deploy it while something's in the way, the unit senses the obstruction, automatically retracts to the stowed position, and alerts the user with LED feedback at the control panel. The PowerBase can be used with antennae up to 8 feet in length (compatible with standard 1.25-inch threaded VHF antenna mounts) and fits all Attwood LightArmor LED all-around and masthead lights.

PowerBase integrates with existing dashboard configurations or with most digital-switching setups. With its standard mounting footprints and wiring paths, it can be easily installed by boatbuilders and consumers alike.

"Building upon our successes within the industry leading Attwood LightArmor navigation light portfolio, PowerBase allows us to challenge the status quo and address major safety and accessibility needs faced by boaters each and every day," says Justin Focht, Advanced Systems Group product manager. $499 | AttwoodMarine.com
