The Latest in Marine Subwoofers

Regardless of the type of boat you own, if you want to feel a thumping bass and keep the beat, you need a subwoofer. For you nonaudiophiles, subwoofers are a type of speaker that boost the lowest frequencies. Here are a couple of options for shoppers to consider:

Garmin

Garmin’s Fusion brand of audio speakers offers the Fusion Signature Series 3 subwoofers with industry-first five-color LED lighting and 1,600 watts of peak power. This new lighting technology gives users thousands of possibilities for customization of speaker system color and effects onboard. The 12-inch subwoofers also offer 1,600 watts of peak power.

Users can control the color — static or dynamic, brightness, light mode and speed — from the multifunction display via Garmin OneHelm (lighting partner controller required) or with the new optional CRGBW wireless remote control.

Available in 6.5-, 7.7-, and 8.8-inch speaker sizes and 12- or 10-inch subwoofer sizes, the new Signature Series 3 is offered with a Sports White or Sports Chrome grill finish to compliment a wide range of modern boats.

Clarion’s new 10-inch CMSP-101RGB subwoofers are available in both 2- and 4-ohm voice coil models, and are designed for multiple-baffle applications where there isn’t a dedicated enclosure behind the speaker.

These ’woofers can handle a deck-throbbing 250 watts of RMS power with low-distortion and excellent low-frequency capability, ideally matched to Clarion subwoofer amplifiers. They feature built-in RGB LED lighting (red, green, or blue), and is ASTM-certified for salt, fog, and UV exposure. The CMSP-101RGB also matches up with Clarion’s CMGP-101 sport white or metallic gray subwoofer grilles.
