  From the Intracoastal water way, head up the New River at the intersection of the river, waterway and the inlet. Follow all Coast Guard and Wildlife markers to the low bridges in downtown Jacksonville, NC. These bridges have a 14' clearance. Pass under the second bridge and look to the left...you cannot miss it. The average depth is 3-7 feet depending on the tide and time of year.
