Like A Widescreen TV For Your Boat’s Console

We’ve seen console multifunction displays grow bigger over the years, with increasingly finer detail, but we’ve never seen anything like the Simrad NSX Ultrawides

If you’ve ever wished your multifunction display (MFD) screen was wider (and we know you have), take a look at the new Simrad NSX Ultrawide. The 12- and 15-inch units display 1920 horizontal pixels by 720 vertical. That’s about 63% wider than the standard NSX and makes splitting screens and viewing multiple windows at the same time easier than ever.

The touchscreen LCDs allow you to build custom views with instrument panels, sonar, chartplotter, radar, and more via drag-and-drop and resizing abilities. And these are SolarMAX IPS displays with 1000 nits of brightness, which means you can view them from off to the sides at up to an 85-degree angle even when wearing polarized sunglasses.

The NSX Ultrawide can integrate with Mercury power systems via either a VesselView Link gateway or a SmartCraft Connect gateway, and additional highlights include ethernet, sonar, and NMEA2000 ports; IPX6 and IPX7 waterproofing; Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity; 32-channel GPS; and C-Zone and Simrad Command DDS digital switching capabilities. They also come with C-MAP Discover X cartography included and are compatible with C-MAP X-Gen and Reveal X charts with support for CMOR, StrikeLines, and additional cartography expected in 2024.

The Simrad Companion app integration lets you preplan (with full charting and autorouting abilities) from home, then synch your phone with the unit when you step aboard the boat. This also means you can reference manuals and how-to videos right from your phone. $2,749 to $3,399 | simrad-yachting.com
