A Harrowing Tale of Intrigue South of the Border
I’ve said it before: Boat insurance can be a dull subject. So why should you care?
If you have ever chased fish or cruised off the coast, you’ll understand BoatUS member Dan Richter’s passion for Mexico’s Isla Coronado fishery, located just a few miles south of San Diego, California.
But like Dan recently learned one dark night last October, when things go bad – “scary and chaotic” in his own words – never is it more important to have a good insurance company watching your back. And in Dan’s case of intrigue involving dimly-lit commercial tuna pens, a standoff with the Mexican Navy, the US Coast Guard, a Spanish-speaking son and a host of other characters, I’m proud to say it was BoatUS marine insurance that literally came to his rescue.
You can read the short story, “Dan Richter’s (Completely True) Fishing Story,” which appears now in the January 2011 issue of Seaworthy at www.BoatUS.com/seaworthy/fishingstory.
