NEW OWNER FOR TOWBOATU.S. PANAMA CITY, FL
The Newest On-the-Water Assistance Port for Capt. Andrew Adams Opened Saturday, May 20
TowBoatU.S., the nation’s largest on-the-water towing service for recreational boaters, has reopened TowBoatU.S. Panama City, FL on Saturday, May 20 with a new owner at the helm, Capt. Andrew Adams. Capt. Adams is the owner of TowBoatU.S. Destin, FL just down the coast, which he purchased in February of 2005. Managing this second port for Capt. Adams will be his father, Capt. Victor Adams. Both father and son have been boating in the area since 1983.
TowBoatU.S. Panama City has two vessels stationed in two locations in the Panama City area. A 32-foot former USCG patrol vessel with single diesel is stationed at St. Andrews Marina. A 35-foot Bettina with twin diesels is located at Massalina Bayou. Both vessels can be identified by their distinctive red hulls with white bow stripes and “TowBoatU.S.” lettering along their sides. Each vessel has a full complement of towing and salvage equipment including extra fuel, pumps, airbags and battery “jump packs” to handle every breakdown from running out of fuel to running aground.
The Panama City locations cover Port St. Joe including Cape San Blas and Mexico Beach, as well as Panama City, Panama City Beach and the ICW into “the Ditch.” Capt. Adams said many things can go wrong for boaters, but, “We want people to know that we can take care of them and give them peace of mind knowing that we are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.”
Like an auto club, BoatU.S. offers on-the-water assistance plans starting at around $37 a year. Without a towing plan, boaters face costs that nationally average about $600 per incident. “Boaters without a TowBoatU.S. towing plan often don’t realize how expensive on-the-water breakdowns can be,” said Capt. Adams. Boaters can call 800-888-4869 or visit www.BoatUS.com/Towing for more information.
Boaters in need of towing assistance can reach TowBoatU.S. Panama City by calling the company directly at 850-865-5672; by VHF radio on channel 16; or through the BoatU.S. toll-free Dispatch Service at 800-391-4869.
BoatU.S. – Boat Owners Association of The United States – is the nation’s leading advocate for recreational boaters providing its 650,000 members with a wide array of consumer services including a group-rate marine insurance program that insures nearly a quarter million boats; the largest fleet of more than 500 towing assistance vessels; discounts on fuel, slips, and repairs at over 825 Cooperating Marinas; boat financing; and a subscription to BoatU.S. Magazine, the most widely read boating publication in the U.S. For membership information visit http://www.BoatUS.com or call 800-395-2628.
