Lisa and Jim

In 2005 Jim and Lisa Favors retired, sold their house in Traverse City, Michigan, and set out for a 10-month, 6,000-mile Great American Loop adventure aboard their 42-foot power boat Kismet. They explored the American river system, ICW, lakes, and the Abacos. “This was our first trip,” said Lisa, “and it was too short. We wanted more time to visit all the fascinating places along this route.”

During the summer of 2008, Lisa and Jim prepared to set out again, this time for at least two years, this time on their new Fathom 40, built just for the Great Loop Adventure. Join them as they explore the American Heartland through the river and waterway systems of this country. Find out how they organized their adventure, what they included in this new boat, how they handle the practicalities of the day-to-day cruising life, and learn about all the extraordinary places you can visit by water.

For Lisa and Jim, it's the relationships made along the way -- with fellow cruisers, and with local folks -- that make this extraordinary adventure one they wanted to repeat. This time, though, they're taking their time, and sharing the voyage with you.
