Fantasy Harbour Bridge, Mile 367: An update to the Marine Safety Information Bulletin (92-08) from the Charleston Coast Guard regarding the Fantasy Harbour Bridge construction at Mile 367 states that the SCDOT will not begin work on this bridge until after December 15th, therefore the ICW will not be restricted until after that date. This refers to work in the ICW channel. Work was in progress adjacent to the channel when we passed, but it did not restrict the channel.
Recent Dredging: We passed through the Dawho River and Asheepoo-Coosaw Cutoff in South Carolina yesterday, December 4, 2008. Dredging has been completed in both areas. In the Dawho River, green cans 111 and 113 which were being reported as off-station in local Broadcasts to Mariners appeared to be on-station. There was more than 12 feet of water between 110 and 113 at low tide, where previously four feet had been reported to be the controlling depth. However, red daybeacon 114 was missing, and in the area immediately south of 113 in the vicinity of 115 and 116, depths were in the range of around 7-8 feet. The Asheepoo-Coosaw Cutoff had more than adequate depths throughout, with around 12 feet low water depth between 184 and 185.
Ladys Island Bridge: This bridge was opening as reported, at 10:00 a.m. and at 2:00 p.m. We anchored for two hours with five other sailboats and a maneuvering tug pushing a barge.
